How do you do multiple install of a game on a Win7 PC?

What is procedure to install a game twice on the same PC? I need to use the same game for two different add-ons which means two installations. However, the PC only recognises one install.

My suggestions:

1.
-Install one game on a Virtual Machine using Win7

2.
-Have a copy of the main .exe file and rename it to any other name (e.g. game name is angrybirds.exe, make the copied file angrybirds2.exe). Make each of the .exe file run with a different add-on. It all depends on your game settings and the level of knowledge you have. No game is identical so the steps also won't be.

3.
-Run one of the game instance directly through your Hard drive. Change the name of the main .exe and install the add-on for this particular .exe. Run another instance of the game through your DVD with another add-on.

P.S I tried the 2nd and 3rd one for the game Populous-The Beginning and it worked.

I have had no luck with this so far. I installed the game to a folder on desktop and added the mods. Then tried to install it a second time to another folder on desktop but it asks me do I want to remove the first. I let it and then installed to second folder. When I checked the first it would not run.

Then the only solution is using a VM.

I don't think its possible... Your PC might not accept it since it would become a duplicate file and therefore would use too much space.. Maybe its possible but you would need advice from a qualified technician.
