If the spouse of a Mauritian is foreign and wishes to apply for Mauritian citizenship, he/she can do so if he/she has stayed with the spouse for at least 4 years under the same roof in Mauritius. Documents required in this case are:

birth certificates of the applicant, father, father-in-law and spouse
marriage certificate of the applicant
first five pages of the passport
certificate of foreign nationality of spouse if applicable
residence permit
morality certificate

Hello dear ,
i am mauritian and wish to know procedures about wedding for my partner who is italian. we wish to do civil marriage in mauritius and move to australia for studying. i wish to know what she needs as papers from her country before she arrives in mauritius as i do not she worries. what kind of visa would be better she takes,tourist visa and when she arrives in mauritius,does she need to inform the authority. how lonng its takes for us to bbe married .should a paper be communicated or should there be inquiries about her status in italy as well as mine. Any questions or answers would be welcomed to light me more ..

Gices as far as i know the foreigner has to live in Mauritius with his wife for atleast 5 years or something.. but u only mentionned "under the same roof".. does that mean i have the wrong information??

Maybe my answer was not clear but if you're applying for Mauritian citizenship, the 4 year period living together has to be in Mauritius so that the authorities can easily check that you have been living as husband and wife (proofs of utility bills, bank statement may be asked for).
