Hi, I am South African. My son was born in Mauritius when I worked as expat in 1993. We live in SA. He would like to apply for Mauritian dual citizenship/passport. Can he do this at Mauritian embassy in South Africa ?

You should try asking some information about it, guess you will need yours and your child original birth certificates . but since you are doing that at the embassy , it might take time i guess. but i do not confirm any of my words :P
I'm not sure he qualifies for Mauritian Citizenship because:
A person is a citizen of Mauritius if he is born in Mauritius after 1st September 1995 and if either of his parents is a citizen of Mauritius.
So are you or your wife Mauritian?
