Are chinese universities good for medicine?

I'll answer this in the context of a mauritian going to study an undergraduate degree in China and coming back to his homeland to work. First of all, you need to check that the degree/certificate is recognised in Mauritius and for that it needs to be accepted by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC). The following universities are approved :
- Tongji University
- Limkokwing University of Creative Technology
- Wuhan University
- Huazhong University of Science and Technology
- Dalian Medical University
- Chinese Culture University
- Hubei University of Chinese Medicine
- The Chinese University of Hong Kong
- Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology
- Sun Yat Sen University of Medical Sciences
Now it might sound a good choice to go study in China because it is considerably cheaper than many other countries (costs varies from US$3,400 to US$6,000 per year) but there are also other things to consider such as the language barrier. Although you will be taught in English in the class, you will have to learn Mandarin to intern at a local hospital. This is usually on the 5th/6th year, so you have plenty of time to get familiar with the language but it's important that you get fluent in it. You might also need to sit some exams in Mandarin as well.
I know many mauritians who are currently studying in China and they love it. So do your research well and ask yourself whether you'll be able to adapt to their lifestyle as you'll be there for a long time.
