Hello, I've read that the YPP is not available here because of some Mauritian laws, do you know about which law they are talking about? Also, I've noticed that the Mauritian youtube community has been growing a lot recently, do you think we will be able to do something to allow YPP in Mauritius soon?

I do not think there's a specific law in Mauritius which prevents you from joining the Youtube Partner Programme. However the criteria to be eligible for YPP are as follows:

  • Follow all the YouTube Partner Programme policies.
  • Live in a country or region where the YouTube Partner Programme is available.
  • Have more than 4,000 public watch hours in the last 12 months.
  • Have more than 1,000 subscribers.
  • Have a linked AdSense account.

See the YPP FAQ for more information.

However, YPP is not available in Mauritius at this time. This depends largely on how widely advertisers adopt the Google Network in my opinion. If there's no one to advertise on those Youtube videos targetting mauritians, then it's not worth investing any effort in this. Ads which are not relevant to you (eg from another country) are less likely to be clicked and no matter how big the viewing community is, if Google is not able to monetise the audience, YPP will not launch here.

Do you currently have a Youtube channel that you want to monetise?

Ohh I see, thanks for your response. Yes, I recently started a channel and I wanted to monetize it in the future.
