Hey hey, it has been 5 years ever since i started editing Wikipedia, my topic of contribution were Bollywood related articles, As i am an Indo-Mauritian, i have grown up watching and listening Bollywood films and songs. Now, i want to edit the Mauritian related articles as majority of us know Mauritian related topics and facts are mysterious and dubious. There is a major lack of knowledge on Mauritius.

I think that would be a great initiative, as i was working in the tourism sector, many tourists mislead Mauritius for many baseless reasons, and some of them actually make sense on how majority of us speak Mauritian Creole but if you called them creole people they started agitating [i am referring to the Franco, Sino and Indo Mauritian] as creole people are being refer to the Afro-Mauritian.

There are many misconception about Mauritius in an International platform. Because the person whose acting as a spoke-person of Mauritius, they themselves portray Mauritius as they have experienced and lived it.

But that is not my problem, my real issue is??? [do you think] that i should disclose information on Mauritius. As we may get the risks of being taken away by other nationalities. Thank to the government for offering free educations, free transports and free educational institutions. Making us very educated or worth something but in reality we suffering from a massive unemployment phase. Many of us, have the ability and requirement to get a job but we really can't do it.

Don't get me wrong, there is a number of foreigners growing interest in our culture. In tourism industry, the high skilled workers are foreigners of different nationalities, even in educational institutions many foreigners educators are trying their best, and in glam-world the foreigners is a major problem, only foreigner models are working for the agency so far.

Where the hell are the educated Mauritian people, we have the ability and audacity to exercise the same shit but we are getting the risk of being replaced or preferred over foreigners.

That is indeed very sad, it is quite depressing though. The slang is the only thing that is shielding us, as many foreigners are dying to learn Mauritian creole but could not actually learn it. Do you think, concealing the info would act as one of the best remedies to shield Mauritius from foreigners wastrels.

I'd say you need to be careful about what you write in public. Mauritius is a very corrupted country where politics dominate the society. Keep things general, do not mention names of people or organisations as they can take legal actions against you (The defamation Law).

This shouldn't stop you though from talking about the problems (or good things?) about the country to give people a better perspective and find solutions.

We started Clever Dodo for the very same reason you mentioned, the lack of information on Mauritius. So if you wanted to contribute in any way, do get in touch.

It's very nice to hear about the efforts you're doing on Wikipedia, so keep up the good work.

Most of my friends waited 1-2 years to get a permanent job. One tried supply teacher. He is now an intern with minimum wage. What's the point of studying so much to then become underemployed?

Have something to say?
