Finished HSC exams and now looking for a job while waiting for uni to start

Employers know that a lot of school leavers will try to find a job until university starts and for them it's pointless to train such students because the effort is going to be wasted when they leave for uni. So many have started making employees sign a contract of at least 1 year to overcome the problem. At the beginning of the year a friend of mine applied for a call centre job and was asked to commit for one year.

So it might be easier to get a casual job in shops. December is a very busy period and everywhere they'll be recruiting to cope with the Xmas & New Year celebrations. Otherwise you can apply for a placement which will more likely be unpaid; that can be a good work experience in the field you're looking to get into.

Keep a watch in the local newspapers and apply what you think you might get. There's no harm in trying anyway...
