What is the most demanding sector in Mauritius for investment?

If you're not going to be physically based in Mauritius, then it's going to be difficult for you to manage a business there. There's always a demand in the food sector, so a restaurant and the like will likely get you a decent return on your investment. However starting a business means you need to be actually present to see the day to day progress and intervene when appropriate (as in take corrective measures if you're going off track). Even if you have a reliable person who can take the responsibility for you, I wouldn't personally go with that option because at the end of the day it's your money at stake and it's only you who can give your full attention and not anything else. Why would somebody else go out of their way to make your business a success anyway.

This said, you can surely invest in properties. The property market is booming at the moment. Where once used to be sugarcane fields is now being converted to residential areas. Even if you buy just the land, in a couple of years' time, you'll definitely make a profit on that.
