Loneliness, the new found friend

Uninvited, unwanted, she came to my door

She keeps me company when I’m on the floor

We talk in silence and she tells me more

how she’s always going to be with me and never bore,

for as long as there’s no one else anymore.

She knows all my sorrows and still wants me more

but to embrace her is an eternal commitment to my core

for once I surrender, I won’t be me anymore.

The strength to fight back I find no more,

and she knows I’m growing weak with all this sore,

but to live in the hope is like a tore,

so I have to trust this friend who cares a little more.
