Hi guys, my cousin is coming to Mauritius on holiday from the UK and wants to bring her cat with her. What documents and formalities needs to be done?

My brother tried to bring his dog to Mauritius and it was a nightmare dealing with the officials here. Personally, I wouldn't advise it unless your cousin will be coming to stay permanently in Mauritius. It is better to put the cat in a boarding cattery in London and not go through the quarantine period here, which can be up to 4 weeks.

Have a read through the actual process of bringing a pet to Mauritius and make your own decision whether it's worth it or not.

Hi Gices, thanks for your advise. I checked out the links in the first post and saw the quarantine period is upto 4 weeks!!! That's almost all of her holiday, not only that but the cost of bringing the cat is in excess of £1000+. Ridiculous costs if you ask me, and when it comes to dealing with authorities in Mauritius, every little thing has a cost associated with it :\
