Hi, you might give MultiShop a call. Or any Apple retail shop (run by LCI) should have SSDs in stock. Prices for computer hardware are just astronomical here in Mauritius. I got my 128GB SSD in Europe.

Yep, I should've started looking here first. Thanks anyway, Mary Jane.

You can get it online and still have warranty if you're buying from a reputable business. The only problem is that it becomes a hassle if you have to return it (if it's faulty) as there are shipping costs involved and having a shop where you can just go and return the product is more convenient.

There's a rather big computer shop on St Georges street in Port-Louis, near Raoul Rivet Government Primary School. Have you tried that?

I was looking into the Solid State Drives myself a while back because they offer more stability than other hard-drives but I found that they were quite expensive and decided to stick with normal hard-drives for the time being until they become cheaper. Just need to make sure I've got a backup of my important data, that's all.

Any particular reason why you're after the SSD?

Thanks. I will check it out.
Do you know the name of the shop?
Any other shops you know where I can try my luck?

I'm willing to get one for my primary PC because, according to the internets, it is one of the best upgrade you can do for a computer due to its read/write speed.

A 120GB SSD is arround Rs6000-Rs9000 inc vat on the internet, so cheaper than it was and quite affordable.

I'm going to use it just to install my OS and apps on it. My movies, music and family videos/photos, will be moved to my raid2 NAS, my downloads, setup files will stay in the conventional hdd and my documents will stay on the cloud.

I don't have disk space problems. App launching speed and computer boot up are the only reasons why I'm upgrading.

I'll get one from mru if possible rather than online because of warranty.

I can't remember the name of that shop but you can also try Jacey computers; give them a call on 210 88 88 to see if they can get you the SSD.
