What happened to horse riding along the beaches?

Long time ago, you could enjoy a little horse ride (for a little fee, of course) when you go to the seaside but nowadays we don't see that anymore. What happened? Anymore know?

To tell you the truth .. haven't seen one in ages ... I believe it's due to new rules that came out a few years ago about neglect and abuse of animals. And the horses used are usually retired raced horse ...
