How to unblock a waste drainage pipe?

My bathroom gets filled with water when I'm having a shower and this comes upto my ankle and takes about 10 mins to clear. I've tried putting a hose down the drainage pipe but this doesn't seem to clear it. The drainage system goes directly underground so there's no access to any pipe and I can only try things on the waste hole inside the bathroom.

Does anyone know how to unblock the pipe before I make the call to a local plumber?

That's most likely due to an accumulation of hair. The best solution if you can't access any opening in the pipework is to try caustic soda. You can find the "Deboucheur" by Crest in supermarkets which will do the trick. It costs less than Rs100 and you should follow the instructions carefully. Wear gloves and use the quantity advised on the bottle.

It seems that there is a lot of impermeable rock structures blocking the smooth drainage. Perhaps the slow clearance is due to the heavy rainfalls we are having (are you in Mauritius?).

If I've understood your question well, then I would suggest that you remove the safety on the waste hole inside the bathroom, take an iron rod and hammer it deep and then remove it, thus 'breaking the blockage' and allowing room for a better drainage. This should be only temporary though.
