Is the dormant volcano Trou Kanaka a popular tourist destination? How accessible is it and is it worth a visit in your opinion?

Located in the south of the island, near Bois Cheri, Trou Kanaka is one of the most famous volcanoes in Mauritius. Dormant as are all the other volcanoes on the island, the place attracts a lot of attention because it looks like a real volcano in shape with a definite shaped crater and a water filled hole that is covered with vegetation; the rims of the volcano are also bordered with shrubs. To view the volcano, one must go through a battered muddy road and then a small path that leads to the top of the volcano.

Yes it is, many tour operators include it in excursion packages during visits to the south of the island.

It is easily accessible by foot or bike and there is no need for development there because it is in a magnificent natural state.
