USS Mc Faul ('Deadly Military Ship?'), why did it really come to Mauritius?

I heard Lalit activists were saying that it is just to penetrate further in our lives by showing off to the public that, it is trying to help. And it was in the Indian Ocean to clean up Somali pirates I think.

How far is it true? Any other reports or news concerning what the USS Mc Faul did during its stay in Mauritian waters, from May 11?

Here are the specifications for this ship:
Armament:
- 2 MK 41 VLS for Standard Missiles, Tomahawk
- 1 MK 45 5-inch/54 caliber lightweight gun
- 2 MK-15 20mm Phalanx CIWS
- 2 MK-38 MOD 2 25mm Machine Gun System (MGS)
- MK 46 torpedoes (from two triple tube mounts)

I think we will be seeing more and more of them. Mauritius has agreed to hold piracy trials and build a special prison to hold arrested pirates. The American fleet is participating in anti-piracy of the region as are the French and some other countries. I am not sure what Lalit activists are ranting and raving about? I bet little Mauritius would be happy to be defended by the USN, French Navy or HMS in case of attacks. How about the Indian Navy which are continuously doing free oceanography work for Mauritius? The Indian Ocean area has always been of strategic interest and keeping the maritime routes free of pirates is in Mauritius interest.

I noticed something about this on the news the other day and I must admit that I'm not really up to date with what's going on here because it seems to be one scandal after another.

It's just weird that this ship is here - I personally don't see any real reason for them to be here. Maybe we're going into the pirate business and rob all vessels passing through the Indian Ocean!
